Firstly I'll just apologise, as I am sure there is another post similar to this one already, but to save time I just started a new one.
I have a few questions about spotting at Heathrow, so here goes:
1. Is Myrtle Avenue only good for 27L arrivals, or is it good for 27R as well?
2. When 9R is used for takeoffs, is Myrtle Avenue suitable, or do you have to move elsewhere?
3. Is Myrtle Avenue easily accessible by train, but also are there parking spaces?
4. Is it worth making a 1h 40min journey to LHR if runway 9s are in use?
Also, is it true that the Boeing 787 is visiting LHR on Sun 22nd as part of the World Tour?

1) Only good for 27L arrivals. The roundabout the other side of maintenance is the place for 27R.
2) No. Opposite the end of Cains Lane or the mound by T4.
3) A short walk (5 minutes) from Hatton Cross tube/bus station. They are a couple of parking places but good luck!
4) Only you can answer that. The embankment near T5 is okay for 09L arrivals, and there's also a patch of land near a garden centre for 09R. I prefer 27 arrivals overall but with 09 there's no runway switch at 15:00.

1. Myrtle no good at all for 27R. Not brilliant for 27L either as you're too underneath the aircraft.
2. No good for departure photos, unless you like belly shots.
3. Hatton Cross is just up the road from Myrtle.
4. On a lovely clear winter's day, yes. During the summer, no.

Quoting yerbol (Reply 3): Lucky LHR spotters Assume 22nd & 27th will be busiest days in LHR for spotters.
The 787 turned up at 2300 local time. A bit dark for photography! Even ISO 128000 might not cut the mustard and get a shot!
I think for the southern photographers the weather is going to be the biggest issue. It is currently cloudy and wet and that forecast appears to be the same for the next few days!
Manchester Airport is due for a visit soon, and hopefully they might get a better chance.
