Hard question to answer, as in my opinion, most things capable of flying are at least to some extent beautiful. If pushed for an answer, I still don't know what I would say. Maybe the ATR-42 and ATR-72, but they're still pretty cool.

Yep. I've yet to see an aircraft that looked ugly. A lot of the ones mentioned above are actually INTERESTING looking. When we're all sick to death of the sight of underwing twinjets, we'll appreciate these aircraft even more.

The Concorde. Too long for its length, wings flimsy looking, engines encased in square boxes, and that silly pointy nose that has to droop just to land or take-off. Don't get me started on the interior. Cramped, dated seats, tiny windows, perhaps the ugliest interior in the last 30 years. The whole thing was an abomination.

Ever since I discovered the M-15 back in 1998, I've truly wanted to purchase and import one for myself. In a perfect world, I'd install amphibious floats and frequent the airshow circuit, just for the shock value.

Leskova: Well... anything military for starters... After that: B777, B737, A310, and I'm not really a fan of the BAe 146/Avro either... all pretty much eye-sor
Warren747sp: The A380 followed by A343. the A345 actually looks better than the A343 with proper sized engines.
Sleeperseat: R u kidding??? The 500 and 600 Series looks so clean and well designed.... I'd rather say the 787 Dreamliner looks a little bit scary....
Superfly: Let me put my flame suit on first. Ok, here is my ugly plane list. 757 777 A320 (all series) The worst culprit being Delta, Continental and JetBlue. I
Erhard: Well I have to say that the A380 is not the most graceful looking aircraft......they just did not quite got it right! ? The A340 is a close 2nd, to me
ANITIX87: How can you think the A319 is the ugliest of that family. What about the A318!?!? WHAT!??!?!?!? It's my favorite subsonic jetliner after the 773. TIS
Superfly: I consider the A318,A319,A320, A321 equally unattractive. Not sure why ConcordeBoy dislikes the A340 so much. It is the most elegant looking aircraft
787seattle: I was thinking that before I opened this thread.
Columba: I don´t know what you are smoking, it is truly one of the most elegant aircraft flying around. Especially if there are so many weird aircraft like t
Airtrainer: you're kidding, right ? For sure there are some ugly planes on the photos above but I'm really surprised to see that even on the biggest civil aviati
B_B747forever: Agree with you, really shocking. And Hmmm mentioned the Concorde the ugliest aircraft. How do you dare!! However, have to say that I can agree about
2H4: For what it's worth, I'm repelled by such designs simply because of the boredom they induce. After all, how many photos of a tube with two engines ca

RAFVC10: Don't understand why most of you consider the A380 or the A340 as one of the ugliest aircrafts ever made, but I'm agree with my colleague RootsAir to
KELPkid: I can also assure you that a good picture of the Trislander would have sufficed, as well (it took what beauty the Islander had in appearance complete
UltimateDelta: What's that supposed to mean? Anyway, the Shorts 330 and the Skyvan make want to hurl! The front end of the A380 is bad, though, because the cockpit
Viscount724: The head-on view of the A380 always reminds me of the Beech 1900D which also has a high "forehead" to permit adequate passenger headroom in the cabin
Scooter01: The A380 always reminds me of one of these: Scooter01
NQYGuy: I don't think the A34-200/300 look amazing due to the size of the engines in comparison to the fuselage, though I do like the aesthetics of the 500/60
WILCO737: Just looks ugly!!! WHAT?! Sorry, but the Concorde is the best looking aircraft ever! So stylish and just beautiful! Indeed! Just UGLY!! WILCO737 (MD1
Cpd: You'd better have your flame proof suit ready.. I can't agree - it was the most beautiful airliner ever. Probably the most beautiful plane ever as we
AmericanB763ER: I agree with the posters about the A320 - family being ugly. I fact the whole Airbus - narrowbody - line is looking painfully boring and generic. The
Cpd: The Airbus A31x and A32x families are very nearly the Toyotas of the airliner world. Not ugly, but nothing special either. But they are nice inside ho
AirAmericaC46: Number 1 is the ugliest: 1. A380------perhaps a stretched version will look a little better 2. SD-330/SD-360 3. A319 4. ERJ
FlySSC: Ugliest ? Those "things", sort of long "sausages" :
Metroliner: Are you crazy? The Metro was a blank canvas for all the best schemes of the '70s and '80s. I nominate the Fokker 50. A tiny-windowed and spindly deve
UltimateDelta: The A318 just looks silly because it is dinky and has a massive tail. STUPID!!!!
TupolevTu154: I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Leskova: ... I guess you've never looked any closer at a B737-600 now, have you?
Metroliner: Aw, but it's so cute! And they're nice 'n' loud. Never forget those Iran 747SPs roaring in over my halls of residence under the approach to HAM... go
Viscount724: The 737-600 is actually 2.5 ft. longer than the 737-200. Although the A318 is 8 inches longer than the 736, the A318 has always looked out of proport
LHRlocal: Ah my god, easy, any 747 with there bloody tumour growth on the top. Next the A340, gear down it just looks awkward, wings to big engines to small, ou
KELPkid: While the Shorts Skyvan would never win a beautiful aircraft contest, I don't think that the Short Bros. had someone turning a Skyvan into a SkyHippi
MH017: Two come to my mind and both are British designs (sorry): Handley Page Herald Shorts SC7
Rdwootty: The absolute piggy was the Carvair its bulbous nose was a right put off. IN addition when you saw the four cars it took then you knew it was a disaste
KELPkid: To top it off, wasn't it a British modification of an American Design?
2H4: Even the name is ugly......I remember reading somewhere that it's a derivation of "Car via Air". 2H4

Bartonsayswhat: i think the Boeing 737-600 is quite unattractive. its short and stubby, has a huge tail, and a wingspan greater than its length. Wingspan: 112' 7" Len
TruemanQLD: The 737 and 747 are by far the ugliest aircraft in my opinion! Can we rename this B vs A?
TupolevTu154: You get burnt to a crisp if you even consider that around these here parts
Wingscrubber: I hate assymetrical aircraft, so I would like to nominate these two- Burt Rutans boomerang, looks like it's designed to exclusively turn left to me. A
2H4: As an aerodynamic magician, Rutan is exempt. If he designed it, it's art. 2H4

Larshjort: I totally agree, theres no such thing as an ugly aircraft, just an interesting design AFAIK it was a DC-4 with new nose, tail and engines /Lars
AmricanShamrok: Boeing 767 it's not that ugly just plain and boring
Viscount724: No change to the Carvair's engines. Same P&W R2000s as the DC-4/C-54.
UltimateDelta: Well at least the 736's tail is somewhat proportional to the overall size of the plane. There is no way you'd live without it. Better put on your fla
Leskova: Hmm... ... no... not really. Why? It's a matter of personal opinion - his is different from yours. Learn to live with it.
UltimateDelta: Well, I meant that most other people would also probably disagree, too.
Leskova: I know... ... no worries... all good fun around here as far as I see it. Considering that this thread has some serious flaming-potential, I'm amazed
Orion737: Nice isnt it? that weare allowed to speak openly in this thread. It just shows we all have differing tastes, I suppose in aircraft just like in our fe
UltimateDelta: That's right. As my friend would say, ''keep it fresh.''
RAFVC10: Hi Diesel1, what's supposed is this UGLY aircraft that you posted? Is not ugly... is horrible!!! Gerard
DocLightning: No, he's got a point. The A321 is ugly. The a320 is uglier. The A319 is really fugly, but the A318 looks like something that should be floating in th
Vio: Are you serious? The A340-500? That's one of my fav. planes. Wow... I guess you can't discuss taste. Here are my top pics (though it's a little hard
Chachu201: Oh I have to disagree - I think it looks absolutely stunning! Really unique too...
Readytotaxi: Any aircraft that has a nose similar to my mother in law !
Superfly: Why did I open this thread right before dinner?
Tango29: It dosen't even look aerodynamic! Anyway my ugly list consists of..... Shorts 360 and Skyvan: flying garden sheds or caravans BN Trislander: WTF?? BA
FlyboyOz: Airbus 340-600 and Boeing 757-200/300...They are extremely long and ugly.!

Wingscrubber: Ok... I want to add one more, just because it looks odd. Cool plane nonetheless, just.. odd. Then again I suppose somebody has to try to defy conventi
Irobertson: I'm sorry mate, that's got the best proportions ever. Probably the most beautiful airliner ever made. I really don't know... I'd go IL96 one way and
ZWZWUnited: Is there really such a thing as an ugly aircraft? I think they are "distinguished". I would rather have a unique aircraft come in rather than a plain
Higgi91: 777 the engines are too huge for the fuselage, just looks stupid. Dan.
AirStairs: I am not looking forward to the 787 but will probably like it once I get used to it: I am just a sucker for the classic boeing angles so the weird ta
RJAF: Have to disagree. The F-104 is probably the sexiest aircraft ever built.
FRNT787: The Boeing Dreamlifter isnt georgeous, but it never seems that bad compared to these two. Well not as bad as the aforementioned Belugas I love those
