Is The AF J Product Really That Bad?

Hi All:

I am flying to JFK from DEL in August, first leg is DEL-AMS then AMS-CDG and then finally CDG - JFK.

I am well versed with the KL J product which is mediocre at best (purely taking seat into consideration), but I am wondering how the AF J class seat compares?

All the reviews online are rather bad, so I wanted a better opinion and what better place than our very own www.airliners.net!

Thanks in advance
Nitin

Oh I forgot to mention, CDG - JFK is on the 77W and return on the A332. Is it worth trying to get onto the A380 flight? Currently there are no award tickets available.

Although the seat comfort on AF J is not so nice - the onboard service from the crew is very good and food is always very tasty and presented very well .

IMHO,.......Always found the crew surly...... stroppy..... doing you a favour to serve you.....
mind you, when you do get served, like vlad1971 mentioned, the food is quite nice...
and if it's a overnight flight...., good luck trying to find them at all.

Air France is probably my favourite airline.

Great food, sexy staff and a very French atmosphere. No mistaking this is a French airline.

Try and get on the A380. You'll appreciate the massive space of the A380 which is better than being confined to your seat on a 777. I thought the AF A380 cabin looked rather nice. Check out the pics yourself on the database.

and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

While normally a great airline, their problem is their inconsistency. You might get a great flight, you might get a crappy one.

Take the A330 - it's guaranteed to have the NEV4 seat which is much better for sleep.

As others mentioned the seat depends on the aircraft as there is more than one type of seat floating around. (for instance brand new A380 still have NEV3)
But unfortunately even the newest NEV4 seat is not horizontal, but yet another angled seat !

For the rest of the product, I am sorry but AF generally disappoints me primarily due to their inconsistency, and unfortunately too often the Francophone arrogance.

Anyhow here is a press kit with latest Nev4 product

Bon voyage

Thanks guys for the replies,

Are there any particular routes and aircraft which have the new seat? i.e. the NEV4 seat?

Thanks
Nitin
