Hello A.netters!
Time form y 4th trip report here on A.net. Here's the story: I had collected some 70‘000 miles over the past years and was now thinking about spending them for some free flights. I adore flying, so for those who think it makes no sense, for me it does make sense. I started looking for an ideal destination. It should be far away and be done in one day. Nice would have been a stop between. After some time, I found out Lisbon could be a perfect destination. SWISS flies direct to Lisbon, so I chose to fly via Brussels with LX/SN. My flight back would be via Munich with LH and LX. The first leg, ZRH-BRU-LIS, can be seen in part 2. Sunday, 15th of January would be my day. All four flights would have made 30‘000 miles, so I checked if there was a business class offer as well. For 45‘000 miles I could do the same in business. I didn’t hesitate a second, and the flights were booked. I had now the possibility to check out some lounges as well.
I present to you part 2 now, what means the LIS-MUC-ZRH leg. First flight was LH 1791 from Lisbon to Munich. Carrier was Lufthansa. and our plane today was a Airbus A321. Departure time was 14.00! After flying in from Brussels I had lunch and walked around Lisbon airport. Soon I realised that the best thing to do was to check out TAP lounge. Since its a Star Alliance lounge, all business passengers are packed into that lounge! Therefore the lounge was pretty crowded. For those who want to check out part 1 I posted the link here. Europe IN A DAY On LX/SN ZRH-BRU-LIS Part 1 (by amandeuce Feb 11 2012 in Trip Reports)
I'm not really a talker thats why I start showing some pictures now
Since I got all my boarding passes in Zurich that day I didn't have to check in in Lisbon again. I went straight toward the lounge

Lounge looked pretty neat, even though no windows and very crowded
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
Another nice thing about that lounge was the food quantity and quality! A lot of different snacks were offered as well as salads and some warm meals.
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
Nothing to complain about the beverage choice as well
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
I had some sandwiches, a ginger ale and some wine from a funny wine dispender, could be seen in the video report

I was totally in lounge fever that I forget the time, and as it happend, I had to walk quite fast towards our gate and boarding already started and I was about the last to get aboard. This was my very first flight on Lufthansa and I expected about the same service as on LX.
Our A321. The registration was D-AIRL

The business class seat, as on every european carrier, just a regular economy seat with some extra space and the middle seat kept free
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
Legroom was industry standard, pretty ok for me, but I'm not the tallest anyway (1.78M)

After a night landing in cold Munich checking out the evening departures

I enjoyed the LH flight very much. The FA was very attentive and friendly. Food was good, the salad wasn't that fresh anymore but still tasty. The pilot though was a bit strange, he always tried to be funny with his patter, but he wasn't. I don't know if its german humor...haha anyway, Munich airport rocks. A very nice airport, large and clean.
And of course showing some bavarian pride
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
I had to buy another memory card for my camera becaus I ran out of memory capacity during the day.

After beeing awake for about 17 hours now I quickly decided to check out LH business lounge and relax a bit. I therefore went straight to the lounge. Here I got my first very very bad impression of Lufthansa. There were 2 ladies at the entrance, one checking senator pax tickets, the other one business pax tickets. When I approached them, they were chattering with each other not even taking notice of me. The business pax lady, without looking at me, took my ticket and checked if I was allowed to enter the lounge. Still not having looked at me, she gave me back my ticket and didn't say anything, just waving me through. The whole time she kept talking to her mate, using words like "scheisse" etc. Here they are:

Completely ignored I entered the lounge
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
The lounge, again, was pretty crowded with a lot of star alliance pax. It was hard to find a spot to relax but in the end I found a more or less quite spot to settle down. Again, nothing to complain about food and drink choices.

This is a must for a bavarian lounge: The Biergarten
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
I had a 2 hour layover in Munich. After enjoying the lounge, I made my way to my gate for my last flight this day. LX 1111 MUC-ZRH on an Avro RJ 100.
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
Safety demonstration old school style
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
Compared to other aircraft the RJ 100 is a very spacious airliner, especially the window seats
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
A very nice meal for just a 30 minutes flight. It's a swiss plate, cheese and dry meat
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
I still disagree with LX new logo and brand
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
A very nice touch by LX. If you arrive at a busgate, there is an extra LX business bus waiting to pick up all business passengers and drive them fast and convenient to the terminal
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
After a long day I finally made it back to Zurich. Walking towards my car
By zrhflyer at 2012-02-10
With this ZRH terminal shot I want to finish this report and say thank you for reading it!

Conclusion:
Even tough the business seats(continental) on european carriers aren’t compareable to US carriers, I had two very nice flights. Both, LH and LX crews try to do their best to pamper their pax and make them feel comfortable. I was a bit disappointed of the LH ground staff, but I already told you that.
I ate enough during the flights, so the amount of food provided was good too. I really liked the swiss plate on the very short MUC-ZRH flight. LX is still my favorite!
If you are checking out my youtube channel, you'll see that I posted some more video trip reports, for example my flights to California and back. I will do a written report on those flights as well, as soon as I find some time! But until then, I invite you to watch the video reports on youtube
Next planned flights are ZRH-SIN-BNE and SYD-SIN-ZRH on SQ business class and some domestic australian flights as well! Sure gonna take a lot if pics there!

Hi
Great return video as well, nice to see you've sampled quite a few star alliance carriers.
Both LH and LX seemed to have decent service
The lounge in LIS seems to be overcrowded however.
